How to Juggle Our DVD Photos Past Workshops and Shows

Monroe County, FL School Comments 2007-9

Dear Bounce and Karen,

Once again, thank you for bringing your innovative juggling program to Stanley Switlik School this past week
for two days of juggling instruction and demonstration. During your two days here, approximately 480 kindergarten
through fifth grade students participated in the training. Approximately 64 of our students are identified as special needs.

From my observations of the program, the kids were extremely interested and attentive throughout the sessions.
Juggling is something they now look forward to as an annual event. This continuation of the program has allowed
our Switlik children to build on the skills they picked up from the previous years.
We also now incorporate juggling into our PE program as an on-going skill development.

As well as learning the skills of juggling, the children all really enjoyed themselves as evidenced by their enthusiasm and smiles.
Parents also commented on the fun their kids had and are pleased that we can offer that program.

Thank you, also, for your flexibility in setting up in two different areas of the school for your presentation
so as not to disrupt our testing schedule that was taking place for some of our grade levels.

We love having you here at Switlik School and very much hope to see the program continue
and even expanded if that would be possible.

Thank you so much and thanks to the Monroe County Fine Arts Council for the grant that makes provides this special program.
Barbara Wright, Principal, Stanley Switlik School

Bounce and Karen
We really appreciated the time you spent at our school. You reached out to 551 students and touched them
by taking the time to demonstrate your outstanding juggling and balancing skills
and inspiring them to learn how they can start with the basics and keep improving on them.
As educators we know how important it is to develop these hand eye skills to enhance brain function.
Many of students remembered you from last year and have improved their skills tremendously.
We hope you can work with us again next year.
Amy Rembisz, Physical Education Teacher, Plantation Key School

Dear Bounce, Karen and Daniel,

My class and I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for visiting our Sugarloaf School
and sharing with us your wonderful performance!
To see the look on my students' faces while you were on stage was just as breathtaking as the show itself.
Your expertise, enthusiasm, colorful props and musical talent made the show all the more worth while.

I have found through my years of teaching, that the younger the audience, the more challenging
it is to keep their attention at length. You, on the other hand, completely kept
the children engaged and an active part of your show. That definitely takes true talent!

Our private juggling lessons yesterday proved all the more your passion for the world of juggling.
Watching the students' relentless efforts to juggle left me in awe.
They listened attentively, followed directions, and were persistent.
No sooner did they drop a ball and back in the air it was again!
They were so eager to show you, their peers and me their continuing progress, even if their lesson was not fully mastered.

I applaud you all for your efforts in educating the Monroe County students in self discipline, focusing abilities, and sheer persistence.
I know the students would love to have this as part of their Physical Education curriculum in the future.
If there is anything my students and I can do to help you in this endeavor, please do not hesitate to contact us at Sugarloaf.
Thank you so much for such a wonderful experience!
Anna Maria Croce, 4th Grade Teacher, Sugarloaf Elementary

To Whom It May Concern,

I am writing in reference to Bounce and Karen Margil and their fabulous juggling program.
My name is Ashley Roosa and I am a Physical Education teacher at Gerald Adams Elementary School.
I recently had the pleasure of having Bounce and Karen (a.k.a Ooo La La) come visit and teach us how to
juggle for 2 days. The kids were not only fascinated with the duo's skills but also the skill and precision in
which they became familiar after the lessons. Not every student mastered the art of juggling.
However, they got enough of a taste of it that it has intrigued and challenged them in such a positive manner.
All of my students, those who already knew how to juggle to those who learned that day and
those that are still trying to master it, have asked me on more than one occasion when
Bounce and Karen were going to return! In addition to many of my students, I myself had never juggled
and in the last few days since they left, have found myself attempting during my planning time.

I have about 450 students total from Kindergarten to fifth grade and out of that approximately
10 of varying exceptionalities (special needs), Bounce and Karen were able to accommodate
all of my students, special needs or not, which I cannot say enough about!
Whether my students were learning to juggle or to maintain balance, they are eager to continue practicing
at school and at home. I am happy to report back that a good number of my students came and told me they had gone home
and practiced or tried to juggle as opposed to play their video games after school.
With video games almost becoming an epidemic their reports of after school juggling practice were music to my ears!

I would not only like to thank Bounce and Karen for their time and efforts,
but also the Florida Keys Council for the Arts for helping fund the in-school juggling sessions.
I am looking forward to incorporating more juggling into my program and
hopefully that means more visits from Bounce and Karen!!

I thought it was a great experience for the students. I could really tell the improvements during the second day.
You did an excellent job breaking down the skills so the students could work at their own pace and progress to their level.
Every student was very active the whole class.
Juggling is a great activity to improve students hand eye coordination which is needed in every sport.
The students and teachers enjoyed the workshop and would like to see you come back. Thanks again

To whom this may concern

This is a valuable program to our PE curriculum.
All students, K-5th grade, had the opportunity to participate in the Juggling Presentation.
This is not "a sit in your seat and watch presentation".
Bounce and Karen show the students the fundamentals of juggling.
They meet each grade level with the skills necessary for that age group.
All students start with one ball and work up to three.
We had many students who learned to juggle after participating in their workshop.

Bounce and Karen also stayed after school one of the days for a short faculty workshop.
This gave the teachers and administration the opportunity to see what the students had learned,
and a few teachers and administrators learned to juggle too. (You can teach an old dog new tricks!

Juggling is a skill that teaches focus and concentration, which carries over to academics.
Students learn the value of practice to get better at a skill.
They also learn hand-eye coordination while focusing on the movement of the balls.
All of the skills learned through the juggling workshop are useful in other PE activities, as well as,in the academic classroom.

All students were given the tools to succeed regardless of academic skill, age, or physical learning challenges.
In fact, many students who may not be successful in more active sports were able to find their niche with juggling.

After the skill practice, Bounce and Karen did a short performance.
This performance not only "wowed" the students, it gave them the chance to see what they could aspire to with lots of practice.

We are grateful to the sponsors of this program and would like to see it continue at Stanley Switlik Elementary.
In fact, it would be even more effective if we were able to have Bounce and Karen for a full week.

Thank You
Maria Luther, Physical Education Teacher,
Stanley Switlik Elementary School, Marathon, FL

Thank you all for bringing such a fantastic show to the students of Gerald Adams School.
As a lifelong educator and principal of this school, I have always valued the incorporation of the arts into our curriculum.
This show brings fun into the learning process as well as motivation to work hard and excel.
The staff, students and parents are grateful for being included in this great event.
It was spectacular!

Hi Bounce and Karen,
I just wanted to say thank you again for a wonderful couple of weeks! The juggling workshop was a wonderful experience
for my students. I believe that the skills you taught them are extremely valuable and necessary for them to develop.
My students really benefited from the hand-eye coordination drills. This is such an important time
for the children developmentally and juggling is a wonderful change from other traditional PE activities.
It was a fantastic way to improve not only hand-eye coordination but also balancing and motor skills.
I found while practicing that it was a good way to relieve stress as well as improve rhythm.
One challenge/benefit that I noticed was that as a juggler we also had to become
ambidextrous which is definitely a useful skill! Many of the exercises were challenging
for them but I'm hoping they will continue to practice and develop their juggling skills.
Thank you again!
Natalia Duke, PE Teacher, Montessori KW

Dear Bounce, Ooo La La and Daniel,
I just wanted to say THANKS for the wonderful performance.
The students were highly engaged and smiling which is rare at times!!
I have a student who is seldom happy. He always seems down in the dumps.
During your performance he was eagerly raising his hand and laughing.
I was thrilled to see him so motivated.
He told me he really enjoyed the juggling afterwards too.
Thanks again,

Bounce, Ooo La La, and Daniel,
I wanted to take a minute and let you guys know how much I enjoyed the show on Friday.
You all are so very talented and entertaining. I think it's awesome how you work together
to make it a family show, and I imagine you spend countless hours together practicing as well.
Unfortunately I never had the opportunity to teach Daniel but from what I hear he was a wonderful model student.
If I had to guess, I'd say it's because of the brain he was blessed with and because of his supportive, involved family.
Best of luck to you all!

Your presentation was a lift for our end of the year spirits. We have a poster thank-you that
will be coming in a mailing tube. My class was very engaged, EVEN WRITING your
thank you's, and I work with low motivated, at-risk students so it's usually a push.
Thanks immensely!

My children absolutely loved the performance. Many children had an opportunity to participate.
We read a book about a character Huggles Can Juggle.
This gives them a definite visual to help cement the word juggle in their minds.
It provided an excellent opportunity for the children to write and illustrate stories.
The stories were great and the illustrations were detailed. "Thank you for coming."
Carol Bley, Kindergarten Teacher, Key Largo School

Thank you so much for coming to Key Largo School. I teach first grade and my students absolutely loved your show.
They try and juggle everything now! They spend most of their recesses trying to be like Daniel. He is their favorite.
Your show was an inspiration to my students and I think they will always remember your show!
Thank you so much!

I just wanted to let you know how much my students enjoyed your workshop.
I personally learned to juggle 3 balls when Jimmy Wray was the Art teacher at Gerald Adams.
I teach kids with severe behavioral problems and have used juggling as a reward time.
It is a great activity and wakes up some students physically and mentally.
My daughter goes to this school and came home trying to juggle 3 balls.
She did not want to learn when I tried to teach her but you have inspired her.
Thank you,
Christine Shanle, Gerald Adams Elementary School, Key West

Thank you so much for the fabulous performance this morning at Key Largo School.
My kindergarten class thoroughly enjoyed every minute! We'll be writing you
thank you letters later on today. As a kindergarten teacher I send home a daily newsletter.
I've attached a copy of today's news so you can see the pictures I shared with my parents
from this morning. We'll be writing thank you letters later on today. Again, thank you so much.
I certainly hope we get to see you perform again in the future!

Thank you for the wonderful shows and workshops.
You were both terrific and Daniel was amazing.
I thought that you would appreciate this story. A student who has low self esteem
came to see me during the workshop with a big smile and said "Look, I can really do this".
I have known him for three years and that was the first time that I saw him proud of an accomplishment.
Your programs were fun and entertaining.
Please come back.

I wanted to compliment you on the teacher workshop you held after school for us.
It was a great team-building experience as well as fun!
Some of us are more coordinated than others!
Thank you for the tips and your patience. I will attend next year!
